July 5 was my last day working at 451 Research & S&P Global Market Intelligence. After more than 20 years at 451 in two spells and 4.5 years after our acquisition by S&P Global, I’ve decided to move on to pastures new.

A scrappy startup battling for its place in the analyst world, 451 weathered lean times before making it and my 451 years in NYC & London hold so many cherished memories for me. The S&P acquisition in December 2019 marked a pivotal moment, and now, after a quite a journey, this chapter of my time at 451 comes to a close.

I want to thank all my colleagues past and present at 451 for their contributions to the company’s success and wish the current team all the best for the future.

I plan to take the rest of the summer off and will re-emerge somewhere new in the autumn!

I’ve been working on a bottoms-up analysis of the Generative AI software market for the past few months with colleagues and we’ve now published our report. The headline is that the market is set to exceed $36bn in aggregate revenues by 2028, with a 58% CAGR between 2023 and 2028.

The report is based on an analysis of more than 260 vendors in the following market sectors: foundation models, along with generators of text, images, audio, video, code and structured data.

The forecast doesn’t include the cloud and non-cloud infrastructure on which this software sits – but that’s for another forecast!
